There is no such thing as a perfect article, but you should not submit lousy articles or your name and your business may be at stake. People may judge immediately after reading one article, so you want to provide real substance. The problem is, how perfect should the article be before you submit?
First of all, give information that the readers want. A good way to do this is by monitoring where your readers hang out, like blogs or discussion boards, and make notes about repeated questions. If there are two people who ask the same question, chances are there are more people who have the same questions but don't ask.
Next, you want to write the outline upfront so the article is more structured. Finish with the first draft. Check the spelling and grammar. Rewrite sentences or use more appropriate words if necessary.
You could submit an article after it fulfills the following criteria:
1. It conveys the core message.
You know what idea you want to get across and if you've done that pretty well, the article does its job already.
2. It has some substance.
You provide information that is useful to others. You don't have to write advanced articles to make it useful. Remember that everyone starts at a point. If your article provides the right substance, the readers should want to know more.
3. It is professional but personal at the same time.
The article should be able to represent you professionally as an individual who knows what he talks about. On the other hand, the article must be personal so readers are more likely to know, like and trust you.
Is your article has those criteria? If it is, start submitting to the article directories. Don't wait for it to be perfect. Your time will be better spent if you write the next article.
